Joe Monteleone is a solo dance artist and Artistic Director of Monteleone Dance. His work has been presented extensively in New York City (Inception to Exhibition Festival, APAP, Center for Performance Research, Peridance, NYLA, Dixon Place, the Dance Gallery Festival, Current Sessions, Baruch Performing Arts Center, the Norwood Club, the Amalgamate Artist Series, Green Space, The Moving Beauty Split Bill Series, Triskelion Arts’ Split Bill Series, Comedy in Dance Festival, Dumbo Dance Festival, the Chocolate Factory, and Williamsburg Movement and Arts Center, among various showcases). His work has been presented nationally at the Reverb Dance Echoes Tour (Boston University), Your Move Dance Festival (Jersey City, NJ), Rutgers University (New Brunswick, NJ), The Wassaic Project (Wassaic, NJ), and the Breaking Ground Dance Festival (Tempe, AZ), to great acclaim. International credits include a tour with International BPM to Spain on multiple residencies, including the Institute of the Arts Barcelona, and a performance in the Bailar al Sol Festival. Joe won the Audience Favorite Award at NYC10 in 2015 for his solo work “Defense Mechanism” and at The Intimate Series. His live installation work has been presented at the Peridance Capezio Center (NYC), the Alpha Art Gallery (New Jersey) and the Infinito Gallery (NYC). Residencies include two Solo Commissions by The Moving Beauty Series (Brooklyn), the coLAB Arts residency, and various institutional commissions. Olivia Bowman-Jackson, from Brooklyn, New York, has danced and acted her way through life starting on Sesame Street throughout her childhood, to LaGuardia High School of the Performing Arts, North Carolina School of the Arts, Donald Bryd/The Group, around the world with The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater for a decade, and recently worked with The Bob Fosse & Gwen Verdon Estate, Lucent Dossier, Alicia keys, Ellie Goulding, Beyonce and her inspiring choreographer/husband Abdur-Rahim Jackson. She was an original cast member of the Off-Broadway immersive show Queen of The Night and currently teaches fitness at Tracy Anderson Method.
Originally from Bloomington, Indiana, Holly studied dance and literature at Oberlin College. She dances for Vashti Dance Theatre and has also recently worked with choreographers Cristina Gustaitis, Caroline Brethenoux, and Henry Holmes. Redux, is her 4th collaboration with composer, Asha Tamirisa.
Muliebris Dance Theatre, originally conceived by Samantha Bergman, Cristina Gustaitis, and Holly Heidt, was created in the fall of 2015. The company serves as a laboratory for investigating this life and the world around us. Our method calls for dedication and hard play. We employ the entire body in our storytelling, using the combined efforts of movement, voice, gesture, and expression to craft and shape each piece.
Stephanie Guiland began her dance studies at 3 years of age in Queens, NY.
Her training consists of study at The Joffrey Ballet School in NYC as a trainee, Laguardia HS of the Performing Arts, ballet with Madame Gabriela Taub- Darvash and spent a summer on scholarship at Dance Theater of Harlem. She studied jazz with the legendary Frank Hatchett, freelanced in the commercial music industry dancing for groups such as P.M.Dawn, Salt N Pepa, Lisa Stansfield, and Monie Love and competed twice on the national television show, Star Search. She joined Donald Byrd/ The Group in 1992 and also became an original member of Complexions in 1993 for their debut concert. Nonetheless, It was with Mr. Byrd's NYC company that she grew from dancer to artist. She acted as Mr. Byrd's assistant on numerous occasions and projects and became rehearsal director for the company in 2002. After the folding of the company in 2003 she retired from the stage and returned to school. In 2004, Mr. Byrd approached her to help in the process of his choreography for The Color Purple headed for Broadway at the time. After much work and proving of her capabilities she became the Dance Captain for Oprah Winfrey's The Color Purple in 2005.
She has served as Mr. Byrd's assistant on many of his works. She re-staged Burlesque on AAADT, assisted Dana Hash-Campbell on setting Mr. Byrd's A Dance at the Gym for AAADT, and rejoined forces with her to set Shards for AAADT second company. Stephanie assisted Mr. Byrd on the creation and setting of Longing for the Cincinnati Ballet and has worked extensively with Spectrum Dance Theater from the time Mr. Byrd assumed his position as Artistic Director for the Seattle based company in 2003. She had been fortunate enough to recover after many knee surgeries stemming from an ACL tear 20 years ago only to rediscover her time on stage was not completed. She is honored to have been an ensemble member for Disney's The Lion King on Broadway in 2008 and was fortunate enough to be asked by Disney to participate in the running of the Lion King Cub School in 2010. She went on to tour with The First National Tour of The Color Purple and served as the Associate Choreographer for Mr. Byrd with the same production. After the completion of this production she went on to assist Mr. Byrd yet again on the Equity Workshop of White Noise which was performed in New Orleans and slated to open on Broadway in 2009. During the summer of 2011, after the discovery that she was expecting her first child she was in Seattle with Mr. Byrd yet again assisting him on the setting of his choreography for the distinguished 5th avenue company's production of Oklahoma.
In 2014 she set one of Mr. Byrd's pieces on the Joffrey Concert Dance Group and the Jazz and Contemporary program.
Stephanie has been a working ACE certified personal trainer since 2003 and continues to investigate the fitness and wellness fields. She is a certified Zumba instructor, TRX suspension system trainer, CPR certified, has worked with Dance Theater of Harlem's Dancing Through Barriers program, and is certified in ABT's National Training Curriculum for Pre-Primary through level Three. She has served as an Artist in Residence and as Adjunct Professor in Dance at Long Island University's Brooklyn campus during the years of 2011-2014 and is one of the founding teachers at the Williamsburg Movement and Arts Center where she heads the ballet department and serves as program director for the Young Performers Companies. She has taught at the Dwana Smallwood Performing Arts Center and The Joffrey Ballet School's Jazz and Contemporary Summer Intensive. She assisted Mr. Byrd with his work in 2015 on the Joffrey Ballet Summer intensive, and works frequently with Spectrum Dance Theater where she continues to set pieces on the company. She has just completed teaching as an Adjunct Modern Dance Professor at LIU for the Fall 2016 and Spring 2017 semesters. She has her Bachelors in Art through SUNY Empire State College and plans to pursue her Masters in dance next.

Chantal Montilla is a choreographer, dancer, and working artist who migrated from the Dominican Republic. Ms.Montilla holds a BFA in Dance from Long Island University Brooklyn, where she worked with artists such as Alenka Cizmesijia, Stephanie Lapis, Alexandra Beller, Andres Tyson, Stephanie Guillen, Gregory Dolbashian, amongst others. Ms. Montilla also trained with Earl Mosley, and Freddie De Jesus at Earl Mosley's Institute of the Arts.
Ms.Montilla’s work comes from life experiences, the exploration of emotions and discovery of the self. Often Ms.Montilla’s work is shown through live performance and film. Throughout these mediums, Chantal provides an open conversation about vulnerability, discomfort, and self-insecurities. Ms. Montilla’s choreographic work Set-Apart was selected for the Gala at the American College Dance Festival northeast region in March 2017 at Morris County Community College in New Jersey, her work has also been presented at the Kumble Theater at Long Island University in Brooklyn as part of the Dance program Spring concert series in 2017. Ms. Montilla continues to search for her artistic voice by creating a collection of intimate work that explores the inner and outer self in various environments.
Cristina Gustaitis is a dancer, choreographer, and dance educator based in Brooklyn, NY. She is the co- founder and instructor of MachineH Moves, a fitness class that incorporates yoga and dance for a full mind, body, spirit movement experience.
Cristina began her formal training with the Indiana University Ballet Theatre in Bloomington, Indiana. She graduated, summa cum laude, with a BS in Dance Performance from Ball State University in 2011 and has since had the opportunity to study and perform in Italy, France and Sweden as well as throughout the Midwest and East coast.
She is a founding company member and the Assistant Artistic Director of MachineH Dance and company member of Treeline Dance Works. She has performed work as a guest artist with Falcon Dance, Kristin Sudeikis, and Jordana Toback's Dreamland Follies. Her choreography has been shown in venues throughout the city including Triskelion Arts, The Tank, Transpecos and The Royal Theater. Cristina enjoys bringing the arts to children as a faculty member of WMAAC Residencies, Williamsburg Movement & Arts Center and Breaking Ground Dance Center.
Juan Michael was born in Mobile, Alabama. He has spent his life traveling allover the world collecting and recreating stories with talented artists. As a performer he has worked with H.T. Chen & Dancers, NYCOpera, Michael Mao Dance, The Martha Graham Dance Company, Webster Hall (Director of Dance of The Quarterly Art Soirée), Alpha Omega Dance Company, BalaSole Dance Company, Genesis Dance Company, and Les Guirevois Dance Theatre. As a writer, director, and choreographer, his work has been presented by Creative Concept Productions, Sugar Valley Theatricals, Dixon Place, Sangre de Cristo Art Center (Guest Artist in Residence), The 3rd Ward, The Fresh Fruit Festival (Best New Play Award; 2011), Chen Dance Center, and Webster Hall.
Juan Michael co-founded The Moving Beauty Series in 2008, an independent art collective. The mission of The Moving Beauty Series is to present talented artists in artistically provocative yet commercially viable new works. Since its founding has, the organization has produced, presented, and commissioned hundreds of artists from all over the world.
Stephanie Deere was born and raised in sunny Southern California, where she began her dance training at the age of 3 under the Caspary family. She went on to graduate with honors with a B.A. in dance from the University of California, Irvine where she studied under notable choreographers such as Loretta Livingston, Lisa Naugle, Molly Lynch, Diane Diefenderfer, Jodi Gates, and Sharon Wray. Stephanie moved to New York City when she was hired as a company member with Undertoe Dance Project. She has freelanced with many New York based dance companies, including Delineation Dance, The Pic PAC, Reject Dance Theatre, and The Flowers Project.
Stephanie founded MachineHDance 4 years ago in order to have a professional and collaborative outlet for her choreographic interests. Since then, the company has grown rapidly, performing at various festivals in the city including Take Root at Greenspace, the Sans Limites Dance Spring Season, and Dance Astoria. In addition to participating in festivals, Stephanie self-produced three productions in 2016, including MachineHDance’s first outreach program, INterACTION, with grant funding from the Queens Council on the Arts.
In addition to her choreographic and performative work, Stephanie teaches regularly in the tri-state area. She is currently on faculty at Breaking Ground Dance Center in Pleasantville, where she also directs the dance team, Reflexions Dance and Fitness in Queens, and New York Performing Arts Center in Harrison. Stephanie is the co-founder of MachineH Moves, a total mind, body, spirit approach to fitness that blends dance, yoga and calisthenic exercises for a full body, therapeutic, and above all, blissful sweat session.
Caroline Nelson is a found member of Treeline Dance Works - a New York City based contemporary dance performance co-op that seeks to honor the creative voices and artistic input of its multiple collaborators through joint investment in movement research. The company has performed and taught nationally and internationally at well over 50 venues, sharing their passion as active educators, performers and choreographers. With an emphasis on an open feedback forum, this collaborative entity explores juxtapositions in movement, intermingling the quirky with the athletic, the subtle with the explosive, and the intimate with the communal.
Chanel Stone is a sophomore BFA Dance major at Long Island University Brooklyn. Originally from Columbus, Ohio, her training began at the young age of 3 years old. Since dancing at LIU, Chanel has performed at the Kennedy Center, and Jacob's Pillow alongside the cast of Unframed choreographed by Aenka Cismesijia. Ms.Stone hopes to pursue a professional career in modern dance following graduation. Chanel would like to thank her parents Shamon and Chantal for their unconditional love and support.
A Los Angeles native, Jamal began serious training there at the Lula Washington Dance Theatre. He holds dual degrees in Dance Performance and TV/Radio Communications from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, where he performed with Dallas Black Dance Theater and Fort Worth/Dallas Ballet among others. Later, Jamal danced with Donald Byrd/theGroup, Madonna’s2001 Drowned World Tour, Complexions, and (as an aerialist and dancer) Cher’s Living Proof: The Farewell Tour. He has since originated The Color Purple and Motown: the Musical on Broadway, serving as a dance captain on both. An avid choreographer, Jamal has set works on several companies, taught as a full time professor ad interim at the University of Missouri Kansas City, and sits on the NY Board of SAG-AFTRA as co-chair of the unions National Dance Committee. In addition to his dance captainship on Cher’s Dressed to Kill Tour, Jamal continues his advocacy for educating young artists about the changing landscape of dance. Abdur-Rahim Jackson, born and raised in Philadelphia, has a vast array of training, ranging from musical theater and African dance to receiving his BFA from The Julliard School. During his studies he received scholarships from the Freedom Theatre, Philadanco, Dance Theatre of Harlem, Boston Ballet, and The Ailey School. Mr. Jackon received a Marion D. Cuyjet Award and in 2003, was featured in the PBS "American Masters" documentary on Julliard. He danced with Ailey II in 2000 and in 2001 joined the prestigious Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre with whom he danced for almost decade. He was also chosen in 2005 to choreograph a piece for the company. He has choreographed for Complexions Contemporary Ballet, internationally, at Fordham University, and other schools, and this past summer at La Mama Moves Dance Festival in NYC.
The Williamsburg Movement & Arts Center Young Performers Company offers a safe and exciting platform for children and teens to create, learn and explore the world of performing arts. The company, which is comprised of 25 students ranging from ages 7-17 years old, partake in 3-5 dance classes per week, participate in community performances, master classes and performance trips.
